I've passed another subject.  Just one more to go.  Thought I'd be more excited about it.  I wonder if there is some sort of 'finishing degree' malaise that I'm experiencing.  I used to think that doing Honours was a given, now I just want to finish the damn degree and be done with academia.  It's not like I'm going to get a job or anything once I've finished, so why subject myself to another 2 years of torture.  The BA will do, that's an achievement in itself - isn't it?  My great Buffy thesis will remain unwritten.

J has gone to his 'other' school formal (the Senior College that he attended for the final year of the HSC).  I'm sort of waiting up for him - the Mum thing never stops ... well, actually, I'm just waiting for him to text me his plans for the rest of the evening.

Maybe it's just a blue day.

I didn't do honours (though I thought I really wanted to) and I still to this day think my BA was one of the greatest things I've ever done. Nothing stopping you from writing your great Buffy Thesis. I do groan on your behalf just thinking about honours subjects on top of the thesis. Congratulations on passing too.

Thanks for the congrats.

honours subjects on top of the thesis

I think you've hit it on the head - it's not just the thesis that you have to do, it's the bloody honours subjects as well. I've always wanted to do it, I've worked hard to maintain my D/HD average, but the thought of more essays, more deconstruction, more everything, is just a little too much at the moment. Thankfully I have a break till February, maybe I'll be re-invigorated by then.

How goes things with you - I'm hoping that it's sooner rather than later!!

Congratulations on the passing. I hope come February you're feeling revived and ready for the final stage. Honours or not you're still going to be one degree ahead of me.

I keep forgetting LJ is wonky, and not realising I have comments.

Thanks for the congratulations. Think the break will do me good, and I'm finishing with an English Lit subject, so I'll be going out on a high note - well for me at least.

Congrats!

And the ennui is completely normal... I don't think I processed any of the finishing classes/degree business until about a year after.

Thanks for that. Ennui, what a lovely word, and probably fairly accurate. Autumn Session doesn't start till February, so I'm hoping the break will revive my academic enthusiasm.

Hope you had a great Thanksgiving Day!
